JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Fraternal Order of the Eagles held a fundraising event Saturday night to help support the Miracle League of Jonesboro.

They kicked off their 1950s themed sock hop at 6 p.m. and it lasted until 11 p.m.

Many came out in poodle skirts and rolled up jeans in hopes to win the dance contest.

More importantly, the co-chairman of the event Scott Dejarnette said they served food and treats and held an auction in hopes to reach their donation goal.

"We just wanted to help in our community," Dejarnette said. "We'd probably like to raise anywhere between $3,000 and $5,000. I'm not sure if we are going to make that or not, but we are going to get as close as we can."

The Miracle League plans to use the donated money to start a soccer program.

They need the funding to purchase the equipment.

Anyone interested in donating to the league can email them at
