JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

More murals may be coming to downtown Jonesboro.

The Downtown Jonesboro Association and art students at Arkansas State University partnered up in early June to create a mural at the corner of Union Street and Burke Avenue.

Downtown Jonesboro Association Executive Director Hailey Knight said the mural was a success to begin with, but it might have also sparked a movement.

"We also had a lot of building owners step forward and say, 'We would love to be a part of this initiative, how can we do so?' And, of course, we say, 'Donate one of your building walls to us as a canvas,'" Knight said. "We've had a ton of property owners downtown want to be a part of this and so we're very fortunate to have that kind of support for downtown Jonesboro."

Knight said they have seven project sites listed and they've already met with two different artists interested in partnering up for a mural.

Knight said they hope to put out a call for more mural proposals soon.

If you're interested in partnering with the Downtown Jonesboro Association for a mural project, contact them at (870) 919- 6176.
