WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT) -

UPDATE August 4, 2016: Work along Highway 67 from Highway 226 to Walnut Ridge is one week from completion.

The concrete barriers that have diverted traffic from Highway 67 to Highway 63 for years are gone and orange traffic barrels are in its place.

After this stretch of highway opens, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department will work on taking Highway 67 from Walnut Ridge to the Missouri state line.

Traveling to Central Arkansas will now be easier for people living near Lawrence County.

District 10 Engineer for the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department Walter McMillan said Highway 67 at Walnut Ridge will open August 11.

McMillan said this area near the interchange on Highway 67 will be 18 miles of new construction.
