A Missouri police department is looking to arrest a person they say resisted arrest by driving away from officers.

Steele Police Chief Billy Joe Stanfield states the traffic stop was made June 18 on Vied St.

During the stop, officers reportedly saw what appeared to be marijuana in the suspect's vehicle.

Officers identified the driver, and the male suspect got out of the vehicle.

Stanfield states the suspect resisted arrest, got back in the vehicle and took off. Police pursued the vehicle, but the suspect evaded officers.

A report was filed with the Steele prosecuting attorney to obtain a warrant for the suspect.

The suspect's name was not released by the department.

In an unrelated case, but on the same day, a gun was reported stolen.

The report came from a homeowner on Ponderosa Street, according to the chief.

The firearm is a .40-caliber, Smith & Wesson handgun.

Police took a report and are investigating.
