Police searching for 2 who held up restaurant

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Two men, dressed in black and wearing hoods, robbed a Jonesboro restaurant at gunpoint.

The holdup happened around 11 p.m. Wednesday as workers at Sonic, 1215 E. Johnson, were closing for the night.

Surveillance video showed two men, dressed in black with their faces completely covered, enter the restaurant with a "long gun, either a shotgun or rifle."

The men, according to the initial incident report, went behind the counter toward the cash register and safe.

After grabbing the cash meant to be deposited at the bank, the two men then ran out the back door, with an employee chasing them.

Workers said they last saw the thieves running through an apartment parking lot on Leggett Street.

A K9 unit attempted to track the suspects, but could not locate them.

Anyone with information on this robbery should call Crimestoppers at 935-STOP (7867).
