Charles Campbell found guilty of manslaughter

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Charles Campbell was found guilty for manslaughter according to Prosecuting Attorney Scott Ellington.

Campbell was arrested in April of 2015 for shooting a man who lived with him.

He was initially charged with first degree murder.

According to Campbell's defense attorney Jim Harris, the jury considered first degree and second degree murder before finding him guilty of the lesser manslaughter charge.

"The State's entire case was premised on intent to kill, and the jury found no intent to kill, but that Campbell's reckless behavior resulted in Rodney Lutes death," Harris said.

He was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

He was sentenced to the maximum of 10 years for manslaughter and 15 years for firearm enhancement.
