JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Jonesboro Metropolitan Area Planning Commission will consider multiple rezoning requests Tuesday.
According to an agenda for the meeting, two potential rezonings are located along Southwest Drive.
One rezoning would bring commercially-zoned property to Highway 49 South near the Valley View School District.
Prestige Statewide, LLC is requesting that 2.46 acres of land along Southwest Drive be rezoned from single-family residential to the general commercial district.
Their application states that they hope to "gain the interest" of an eating establishment or convenience store to "fill the void in that part of the city."
The second rezoning along Southwest Drive is a few miles down the road.
Valley View Storage, LLC is requesting to rezone 3.63 acres of land from single-family residential to the industrial district.
Their application states they plan to build approximately 50,000 square feet of self-storage units.
If rezoned, they state they plan to develop it within two to three months.
In North Jonesboro, the MAPC will consider rezoning 8.29 acres of land on Hudson Drive from R-1 Single Family to RM-12 Residential, multifamily classification.
If rezoned, it would allow for 12 units per net acre.
A staff summary from the city states that would allow for 99 units. However, the rezoning request from Robin Caldwell states they would limit the number of units to 96.
If developed as it's currently zoned, 46 single-family homes could be built there.
The MAPC meets Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
