JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - If you decide to drink and drive this holiday weekend, you may end up in the BAT Mobile. PS: Batman and Robin will not be in the front seat.
The Jonesboro Police Department will conduct sobriety checkpoints Friday night as part of the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.
Officers will use the Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) Mobile to "deter and apprehend drunken/drugged drivers."
Based at the Black River Technical College's Law Enforcement Training Academy in Pocahontas, the 44-foot vehicle has multiple cameras to record checkpoint stops.
Officers receive specialized training in drug recognition, according to a news release from JPD.
They can also field test drivers suspected of prescription or illegal drug impairment inside the BAT mobile.
