JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Police are investigating after a thief destroyed an outdoor heat and air unit worth $3,000 to get $100 worth of copper.

According to the incident report, the material was stolen from a home in the 500-block of South Floyd Street.

The woman who is overseeing the property told police she left the house around 7 p.m. Monday and returned around 2 p.m. Tuesday.

She said the air unit was working fine when she left but it was destroyed when she came back Tuesday afternoon.

All of the copper lines were missing from the broken unit.

The woman said there had been an estate sale over the past weekend with several people in attendance.

Police have not developed any suspects in the case.
