High school gets grant to expand

Gosnell high school gets coding grant

GOSNELL, AR (KAIT) - Students at one Region 8 high school will see an update to one of their programs thanks to a $30,000 grant.

Gosnell High School recently received that grant to improve their coding program in the business department.

The school began the program last year and are now expanding.

New equipment should be installed for the upcoming school year.

Students learn to write code and develop apps for Android and Apple devices in the course.

Assistant Superintendent Kevin Evans said the program gives students new opportunities.

"I think it's going to open them up to careers in those areas and technology so predominate in pretty much any area anymore but especially in business and coding, so it'll help prepare them for those areas," Evans said.
