BATESVILLE, AR (KAIT) -

A fundraiser planned in Independence County plans to raise money for the children of a deceased sheriff’s deputy.

In February, Region 8 News showed you the dark side of law enforcement and the stresses the job can put on officers.

John Carroll was a deputy with the Independence County Sheriff’s Department.

He took his own life in 2015.

To show support for his family, a fundraiser is planned for Thursday, June 30, 2016, from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Independence County Fairgrounds.

The Fiesta Skies John Carroll Memorial Fundraiser will have water slides, bounce houses, dunking booth, refreshments, and fireworks for sale.

There will also be memorial decals and t-shirts for sale along with a raffle and silent auction.

Items for the raffle and silent auction include a Yeti cooler, shotgun, and the same style watch worn by Navy Seals.

All of the funds raised and a portion of Fiesta Skies firework sales will be put in an education and emergency medical bill fund for Carroll’s children.
