Jonesboro Freshman Lawmaker Eyeing AG's Office

APRIL 20, 2005 - Posted at 7:52 a.m. CDT

LITTLE ROCK, AR - First-term Democratic State Representative Dustin McDaniel of Jonesboro and Saline County prosecutor Robert Herzfield both say that they may run for attorney general.

Current Attorney General Mike Beebe is expected to run for governor.

McDaniel says he has sent his supporters a letter asking for their advice and backing in the possible run.

Herzfield also said he is anticipating a run for attorney general as a Democrat if Beebe were to seek another office.

Both Herzfield and McDaniel said they would not announce for attorney general until Beebe announces a run for governor.  Beebe has yet to make that announcement.
