Burglars break into home through ceiling, steal Jonesboro man's car

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - While a Jonesboro man worked, someone literally dropped into his home through the ceiling and stole his car.

Shortly after midnight Friday, the victim called police to report a burglary at his apartment in the 500-block of East Roseclair.

The man told police he left for at 2:30. While at work, he said his landlord called to say she thought someone had broken into his apartment.

When the victim returned home, he found a "large hole in the ceiling of his bathroom."

According to the initial incident report, the man discovered several items were missing, including a 47' Sony TV, an X-Box 360 Elite, a Sony Playstation, a .380 Ruger, a 12-gauge Browning Autolite, a guitar and amplifier, and his red 1992 Chevy Camaro.

When asked how the suspects could have taken his car, the man said the keys were on a dresser in the living room.

He also told police burglars broke into the apartment before he moved in by busting through the ceiling a storage closet connected to the duplex.

The officer checked the closet, according to the report, and found a large hole in the ceiling.

The case has been turned over to the Criminal Investigation Division.

Anyone with information on this case should call Crimestoppers at 935-STOP (8767).
