AR executions stalled despite AR Supreme Court ruling

LITTLE ROCK, AR (KAIT/KATV) - Two things are keeping Arkansas from executing inmates on death row.

According to our ABC-affiliate KATV, the Arkansas Supreme Court ruled the state's law that keeps the execution drugs provider a secret is constitutional. However, that ruling isn't official yet and it has to be so executions can resume.

A rehearing on the ruling could also happen before it becomes official.

That's because the attorney representing the eight inmates that are meant to be executed will file a petition for a rehearing in the next several days.

The attorney said the justices made errors in its ruling.

The other cause of the delay is the drugs. Last week, one of the drugs expired.

The Arkansas Department of Correction says two other drugs expire in 2017.
