JPD officer wrecks while responding to a call

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Jonesboro police officer was in a car crash while responding to a call about a man with a gun.

According to Jonesboro Police Department Public Information Specialist Paul Holmes, the accident happened July 3 at the intersection of Highland and Caraway.

He had his lights and sirens on when he attempted to go through the intersection but then collided with another vehicle.

Holmes said both vehicles were badly damaged.

The driver of the second vehicle refused medical assistance, while the officer was taken to St. Bernards to have his hand checked out along with other minor injuries.
