Both suspects arrested in high speed chase

MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Both suspects in an early morning police chase from southeast Missouri to southern Mississippi County in Arkansas have been arrested, according to the Mississippi County Sheriff's Office.

According to Portageville Police Chief Ronnie Adams, the two men threw a brick through a window at City Pawn and Jewelry on East Main Street early Thursday morning.

Adams told Region 8 News the pair stole jewelry and two rifles.

Adams said a high-speed chase quickly began on I-55 southbound. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Pemiscot County Sheriff's Office and the Hayti Police Department were involved in the case until it reached the Missouri-Arkansas state line. Adams said Arkansas State Police and the Mississippi County Sheriff's Office took over the chase.

Authorities in Mississippi County told Region 8 News the chase ended on Interstate 55 near the Bassett exit when the suspects ran out of gas.

The names of the two suspects are expected to be released Friday.
