JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Jonesboro police responded to a man being shot at on Friday just before 6 p.m.

According to a police report, the shooting happened in the 600-block of Bowling Lane.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers saw a black vehicle with two women and a child inside.

They flagged the car down and asked the women if they saw the shooting.

One of them told police she saw a man shoot another man and then both men left.

When officers asked the witnesses if they knew who the suspects were, they said no.

But a child in the backseat of the car said, “it was Corey, momma.”

The woman finally admitted to police that the man shooting was Corey Adams.

She then gave police a description of Adams and told them that he was driving a black car.

The officer saw Adams turn onto Bowling Lane while he was still getting information from the witnesses.

Police stopped the vehicle, two officers pulled their guns while demanding Adams to get out.

Adams, 28, was arrested and taken to the Jonesboro Police Department for questioning.

Police also took the shooting victim to JPD for questioning.

The 24-year-old victim told police he was with his girlfriend visiting her family when Adams and another man accused him of being a cop.

The victim said the unidentified man grabbed him by his throat and told him he better leave when he let him go.

When he turned to run, he saw Adams pull a gun out of his waistband.

He heard a shot next to his head and several more as he continued to run away.

Adams's faces charges of aggravated assault and discharging a firearm within city limits.
