Jonesboro man arrested on DWI with child passengers

Man arrested for DWI with child in car

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Police arrested a Jonesboro man after officers found him intoxicated during a traffic stop early Saturday morning.

According to a Jonesboro police report, 40-year-old Sidney Jerome Summage pulled over into someone's yard on Angelus Street after officers spotted a headlight out.

Summage had two children in the vehicle.

Officers asked Summage for his driver's license, insurance and registration. He could not find his insurance.

While speaking with him, police smelled "a strong odor of intoxicants."

Summage, with reported bloodshot eyes, admitted to police he had gin earlier that day.

An officer gave Summage a field sobriety test. That test resulted in officials reporting he was "too intoxicated to be driving."

Police arrested Summage. The children were turned over to his wife.

He faces DWI, third degree endangering the welfare of a minor and improper headlight charges.

Summage's bond is set at $1,415.00 and will appear in court on Monday, July 11.
