BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) -

The Blytheville Parks and Recreation committee is looking to add security cameras at Thunder Bayou Golf Links.

Parks Director Elroy Brown said thieves recently stole expensive equipment including a mower and a trailer from the property.

He said there is more than a million dollars worth of equipment at Thunder Bayou and it needs to be secure.

Now, the committee proposed to install an $800 security camera system at Thursday's council meeting.

“When you have security cameras around people behave different,” Brown said. “We want to keep all of our parks secure and safe.”

Eventually, Brown said he wants every park in the city secured with cameras.

He believes this will reduce the chances of a theft and help keep community members safe.
