Deputy accused of sexually assaulting inmate

WHITE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Arkansas State Police arrested a sheriff's deputy accused of sexually assaulting an inmate while transporting her to a Newport prison.

Michael Graff, 29, is charged with third-degree sexual assault, according to a news release from ASP.

Special agents with the ASP's Criminal Investigation Division say Graff, who was a Pulaski County Sheriff's Detention deputy, assaulted the 26-year-old victim while taking her to the Arkansas Department of Correction's McPherson Unit. The incident is alleged to have occurred south of Searcy.

Graff is being held in the White County Jail while agents continue their investigation. They will present their information to the prosecuting attorney to file formal charges.
