Arkansas Department of Education adds privacy section to website

LITTLE ROCK, AR (KAIT) -

The Arkansas Department of Education has added a new data privacy section to its website.

Giving teachers access to quality data will allow them to tailor their instruction to cater to individual student needs, according to a news release from the department.

Principals and superintendents use the data to decide how to allocate educational resources and the data will help parents better understand their child's educational progress.

"ADE is committed to ensuring the privacy of all data entrusted to us," according to Holly Glover, ADE director of data use and privacy. "The new website and training modules are designed to increase transparency, provide resources for parents, districts, and other stakeholders, and promote effective data use at all levels",added Glover.

A video overview about how student data is used is available on the data privacy webpage.

Access to the new data privacy section is available on the department's website: http://www.arkansased.gov/divisions/research-and-technology/data-privacy
