BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

Deputies with the Baxter County Sheriff’s Department arrested a sex offender Wednesday for failure to comply with registration requirements.

Robert Dale Gunter, 47, went to the sheriff’s office Wednesday to register.

He told the registration coordinator he had been staying at a house in the 100-block of Baxter County Road 677 in Mountain Home with a family member for more than two months, despite the fact that he was listed as living in Flippin.

According to a press release from the sheriff’s department, the address he gave the coordinator is within 2,000 feet of the Keller City Park.

Gunter is not allowed to live that close to a park under Arkansas law.

He is charged with a felony for failure to comply with the sex offender registration act.

He is being held in lieu of a $15,000 bond and is expected to appear in Baxter County Circuit Court on July 21.

Gunter was convicted of rape in 1992. He was also convicted in 2009 for failure to register. ?
