PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) -

UPDATE: The Paragould Bowling Center says they will not be open in a reasonable amount of time to begin Winter Leagues for a full 24 to 28 weeks season.

According to a post on the center’s Facebook page, as of now, there is no timeline for an opening.

The center asks anyone who has items in a locker at the bowling center to call James at 236-2466 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to schedule a time to pick-up your equipment.

Crews investigated the early-morning fire on July 14 at the center.

According to the Paragould Fire Department, crews were on scene for nearly three hours at the bowling center, just off Highway 49 in Paragould.

The center's assistant manager and marketing director James Kraushaar said he got a call about the fire around two in the morning.

“I got here as soon as I could and saw smoke coming from the roof, and all the fire department and police department were out here, so I knew something was not good,” Kraushaar said.

Kraushaar told Region 8 News they do not know what caused the fire or the extent of the damage yet.

“There is some damage there that is for sure. Right now, we do not know the origin of the fire or how it was caused,"  Kraushaar said. "The fire department is saying it is possibly an electrical fire, but we do not know for sure yet because we are still waiting on details.”

He said center staff and the fire department would spend the next few days accessing the damage.

“We will be looking into it the next couple of days and see where we stand on our damage and total damage cost,” Kraushaar said.

Kraushaar said although this is an unfortunate incident, he is just glad no one was hurt.

“I am just happy it happened at two a.m. and not two p.m. because no one was hurt and no one was in the building,” Kraushaar said.

The Paragould Bowling Center said they would reschedule any booked events until the center opens back up.

“We are going to try and get in contact with people who scheduled events and reschedule them or if you made a deposit and need your money back. You can always call the bowling alley still, I will have access to the phone,” Kraushaar said.

Kraushaar said anyone needing to reschedule or get their gear from the building can contact him at 870-236-2466

The Paragould Bowling Center staff wants their bowlers to know they will be opening back up once they are able to clean the building and fix any damage.

Paragould Bowl posted this on their Facebook page Thursday morning:

Good morning everyone in Paragould. As stories come in from overnight, it is true that our beautiful bowling center caught fire overnight. Damage doesn't seem to be catastrophic, no one was hurt in the fire, and we are grateful for that. If you have a party coming up within the next week, we will be calling you to reschedule or help you move your party. We will let everyone know more details once we know more. Thanks for the support!
