Region 8 teacher honored for service to rural school district

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) - A Region 8 teacher has been named Arkansas Rural Teacher of the Year.

Amy Castleberry has 16 years of teaching experience at Paragould School District.

She was named the 2016 Arkansas Rural Teacher of the Year along with Linda Davis of L.F. Henderson Intermediate School in Ashdown.

Castleberry teaches high school English.

The Rural Teacher of the Year award, sponsored by the Arkansas Rural Education Association and the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas, is based on the quality and depth of answers to a variety of questions.

The questions ranged from professional biography, educational history, professional development, community investment, teaching philosophy, education issues and the teaching profession.
