TUCKERMAN, AR (KAIT) - 7:38 p.m. UPDATE: As of 6 p.m. both lanes of Highway 367 were open.

Jim Chitty drove up to the scene of the accident moments after it happened.

He said he was driving home with his family when they saw it.

He said he could only describe what he saw as chaos.

"Then we seen one vehicle down there, we seen them cover somebody up with a sheet," Chitty said. "So I told the boys don't even look that way and then we could see the other people in the other car over there still in the car."

He said he was thankful his family stopped on their way to Swifton.

Chitty said if they had not, they could have been involved in the crash as well.

According to an Arkansas State Police Crash report, 59-year-old Gary Lydon Hopkins of Newport was killed in the crash.

The report said the crash happened when a 2016 Mazda traveling west on a county road drove into the path of a 2012 Dodge pick-up traveling north on Highway 367.

The pick-up overturned into the path of a 1999 Kia driven by Hopkins.
