TUCKERMAN, AR (KAIT) - 7:38 p.m. UPDATE: As of 6 p.m. both lanes of Highway 367 were open.
Jim Chitty drove up to the scene of the accident moments after it happened.
He said he was driving home with his family when they saw it.
He said he could only describe what he saw as chaos.
"Then we seen one vehicle down there, we seen them cover somebody up with a sheet," Chitty said. "So I told the boys don't even look that way and then we could see the other people in the other car over there still in the car."
He said he was thankful his family stopped on their way to Swifton.
Chitty said if they had not, they could have been involved in the crash as well.
According to an Arkansas State Police Crash report, 59-year-old Gary Lydon Hopkins of Newport was killed in the crash.
The report said the crash happened when a 2016 Mazda traveling west on a county road drove into the path of a 2012 Dodge pick-up traveling north on Highway 367.
The pick-up overturned into the path of a 1999 Kia driven by Hopkins.
4:43 p.m. UPDATE: One lane of Highway 367 south of Tuckerman has re-opened.
Crews are still on the scene because of the crash.

3:02 p.m. UPDATE: Jackson County Sheriff David Lucas says one person died and two people were critically injured in a crash on Highway 367.
Both of the injured have been taken to the hospital. One was airlifted, he told Region 8 News.
Arkansas State Police are investigating the crash.
Traffic is backed up and both lanes of the highway are closed.

The crash happened just after 1:30 p.m. Thursday near the Bennett Street intersection.
Officials say at least one person was killed in the crash. Another person was reportedly being flown to a hospital in critical condition.
