More good news, more good news, more good news. You have been very vocal with us over the past couple of weeks about highlighting some of the good going on in our world and in Region 8. Well, we're listening.
Jonesboro Native Kyle Clemons will represent Team USA in the 4x400 Meter Relay in the XXXI Olympiad next month in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Kyle's road to Rio began in Region 8. He has ties to both Jonesboro and Nettleton High Schools and ran track at the University of Kansas before going pro.
For Kyle Clemons, track is a family affair and being fast is in their blood. Kyle's hero is his mom, Valarie. She was a track star at A-State and is currently an instructor in the athletic department. Kyle's little brother Nick is following in his big brother's and mom's footsteps.
The 4x400 meter relay is a lot like the people of Region 8. It's a team race where people work hard together to win.
The Olympics air on KAIT NBC Region 8 August 5th through the 21st. The Region 8 Sports team, Jason Hurst and Cody Crutchfield, will break down the results and medal count for you every day.
The good news is that we have a Region 8 native in the Olympics. The better news is Kyle Clemons and his family are proof that if you work hard, you can live your dreams. Congratulations to Kyle Clemons and his whole family. Going to Rio and making us proud, makes this a better Region 8.
