Body found in Black River in July identified

UPDATE: According to a post on the Clay County Sheriff's Office Facebook page on Tuesday, the Arkansas Crime Lab confirmed the identity of Dennis Franks. His body was found in the Black River on July 16.

His death was officially ruled an accidental drowning.

A man's body was found in the Black River in Clay County on Saturday.

According to a sheriff's office press release, that man has been identified as Dennis Franks.

Franks was missing since July 14. He lived in the Holland Lodge area of the Black River. 

Clay County dispatch received a call that the body was found in the river near the landing at Clay County Road 228 around 6:45 p.m. on Saturday.

Sheriff's deputies, Arkansas State Police, and the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission responded to the call.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating, but Sheriff Terry Miller said they do not suspect foul play.

He said the death looks like an accidental drowning.
