PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) -

A program helping to connect officers and children in a local community received a sizable donation.

The Paragould Police Department states on their Facebook page a youth group from the First United Methodist Church recently donated a "large amount of juices and snacks" to the Cops 2 Kids program.

The post was made in part to thank the group and others who have donated so far.

The program helps connect "local law enforcement officers with the kids of Greene County."

Officers will be handing out the items to kids while on patrol during the summer.

Donations can be dropped off at the Paragould Police Department or the Greene County Sheriff's Department until Aug. 15, 2016.

The items being collected include:

  • Snacks
  • Water
  • Juice boxes
  • Small toys and bubbles

Thanksgiving is a time to be with loved ones and enjoy good food, but since that is not an option for everyone, members of the Jonesboro community came together to make sure as many people as possible were fed.
