Hearing scheduled for complaint against Gov. Asa Hutchinson

LITTLE ROCK, AR (KAIT) - A probable cause hearing about a complaint against Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson is scheduled for this week.

According to a news release, Attorney Matt Campbell filed a complaint against the governor with the Arkansas Ethics Commission.

The complaint states Gov. Hutchinson broke the law by campaigning for Eddie Joe Williams who was running for a state senate seat.

According to a report by ABC-affiliate 40/29 News, Gov. Hutchinson spoke to them before his scheduled speech on Tuesday at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, OH.

"It's just basically a fundamental right and an expectation of governors that they express themselves to lead the state, and also expect themselves politically," he said.

In the news release, Campbell stated he hopes criminal charges are filed against the governor.

The hearing is Friday at 9 a.m.
