Teen seriously injured when SUV hits tree

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KAIT) - A Region 8 teen was flown to a Memphis hospital after the SUV he was riding in crashed into a tree.

At 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper K.L. Huggins responded to a crash on Butler County Road 448, one mile west of Poplar Bluff.

According to his crash report, 19-year-old Ryan L. Hatton of Poplar Bluff was westbound when his 1999 Dodge Durango ran off the road and hit a tree.

Hatton suffered minor injuries and was taken by private vehicle to Black River Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

His passenger, 15-year-old Ryan S. Emery of Poplar Bluff was flown to Elvis Presley Trauma Center in Memphis.

The report stated neither Emery nor Hatton was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
