BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) -

A Blytheville woman was shot in the knee while inside a car early Tuesday morning.

According to the police report, officers were dispatched to the Great River Medical Center around 12:15 a.m. in reference to a gunshot victim.

Officer Carle Treadway then went to the scene in the 500-block of East Cherry Street.

Treadway talked to a witness who saw the victim, 31-year-old Kenyatta Cook, park in front of a house.

The witness said she heard two shots and Cook then drove off quickly.

A 17-year-old boy, who was a passenger in the car, told police he believes another juvenile paid someone else to shoot him.

The boy said the unidentified juvenile suspect is accusing him of breaking into his house.

Cook was taken to Regional One Health in Memphis to be treated.

The boy was not injured in the shooting.
