WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT) -

July 21 Update: Walnut Ridge Fire Chief Frank Owens said the fire may have started around the kitchen area.

He said there was too much damage to pinpoint the exact location of where the fire started.

Owens said at this time they do not suspect foul play.

Lawrence County emergency crews worked a house fire at 207 Arkansas Avenue in Walnut Ridge Wednesday afternoon.

Peggy Miles with Lawrence County 911 confirmed the fire to Region 8 News.

Nobody was at the house when the fire began.

Walnut Ridge Fire Chief Frank Owens said the home sustained major damage.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and Owens said it will likely be under investigation for a few days because of how much damage was done.

They did have an explosion, but Owens believes it was caused by a backdraft.

Hoxie fire crews helped put out the blaze.
