Child assaulted at library leads to more charges

MOUNTAIN HOME, AR (KAIT) - A north Arkansas man is accused of touching two 11-year-old girls inappropriately in public places.

According to the Baxter County Detention Center's inmate roster, Shawn Douglas Eaton is charged with sexual indecency with a child and second-degree sexual assault. He was booked into the jail on Tuesday.

Mountain Home investigators told ABC affiliate KSPR-TV that officers were called to a library after an 11-year-old girl reported that a stranger, later identified as Eaton, came up to her and touched her inappropriately.

According to Lt. Eddie Griffin, the girl at the library screamed, which alerted her sister to call for help.

Lt. Griffin told KSPR-TV that Eaton admitted to touching the young girl.

Griffin said he was able to connect that crime to a similar crime at the Dollar General on South Highway 5 last week.
