'Odd’ behavior ends in drug arrest at Jonesboro intersection

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Police arrested a man on drug charges while they say he was out searching for scrap metal around 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

Jonesboro police found Villibaldo Calderon, 39, and a woman with flashlights browsing the ground at the intersection of Race and South Caraway.

The officer who spotted them found their behavior odd, especially during the time of day they were out.

Calderon told police they were collecting scrap metal to take to a processing center in return for money.

According to the report, the officer noticed the woman grinding her teeth and had rapid speech.

Due to their behavior, the police report states the officer questioned them about using methamphetamine.

They denied using it recently.

Calderon admitted he had a marijuana pipe and a methamphetamine pipe with residue on it inside his pants.

After searching Calderon, police found half a gram of marijuana on him also.

Police arrested Calderon. He was taken to the Craighead County Detention Center where he faces a felony and a misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia charge.
