HARDY, AR (KAIT) - After years of flood damage and lack of upkeep, the Hardy RV Camper Park received a facelift, according to Director of Public Safety Scott Rose.

Rose said the worst area was the restrooms and an electricity issue.

"The restrooms were deteriorated," Rose said. "They just looked really dated and unkept."

With the help from Hardy Advertising and Promotions Commission, the city's volunteer fire department, who runs the park, was able to make upgrades.

The A and P Commission re-allocated funds to help with the park's projects.

"We've put in tile flooring, we had the walls painted and had LED lighting put throughout all the restrooms," Rose said. "It's a lot safer area at night."

Rose said there is a larger goal of getting sufficient electricity throughout the park.

"Due to the fact that this is in a flood area, it has to be done right by a licensed electrician, so that's going to get a little costly, but I feel like this is something that badly needs to be done," he said.

Rose believes every dime spent on the park brings more people to the city, allowing for growth.

"Our first amount given to us was $5,000 from the A and P," Rose said. "That amount is also paying for barbecue grills. We all have the same goal. It's to build the town and grow. I can't stress enough how much I appreciate the A and P."

The electricity project should begin mid-fall.
