JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

The City of Jonesboro has hired Edward J. Tanner as its new chief operations officer.

Mayor Harold Perrin cited Tanner’s 21 years of experience as a commissioned U.S. Air Force officer as making him “perfect for the job.”

Tanner, 53, was commander of the Air Force Combat Survival School, according to a news release from the city, and held similar positions at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY, and U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.

“We’re extremely pleased to have Ed because of his background in strategic planning and organization,” Perrin is quoted as saying. “He will be able to assist all of our department heads in accomplishing their goals.”

“I’m very proud to be here,” Tanner said. “Hopefully it will work out that I can do some important things for the City of Jonesboro.”
