PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) - Police say a Paragould woman had no problem getting into another person's apartment, but getting out was another story.

Lt. Mike Addison arrested 60-year-old Debra Chastain on Friday, July 22, after she locked herself inside an apartment in the 100-block of Walnut Street.

According to court documents, apartment management opened the door so she could get out.

Addison spoke with the tenant who said he had been in bed and "had no idea anyone was in his apartment until police arrived." He said Chastain had no reason to be in his apartment.

The affidavit stated the man's medication was strewn around inside the apartment, and some of his hydrocodone was missing. Wires had also been pulled out of the television, and CDs were strewn on the floor.

"The door knob had been broken on the inside of the apartment," the court documents stated. "Chastain appeared to be under the influence at the time of the officer's arrival."

District Court Judge Dan Stidham found probable cause to charge Chastain with residential burglary and criminal mischief. He set her bond at $50,000.
