New Pope Installation Ceremony

Pope Benedict has promised followers he won't ignore their voices in leading the world's more than one billion Roman Catholics.

In his installment ceremony in St. Peter's Square, the new Pope said his goal isn't to pursue his own ideas, but to listen to God's word and will.

He's also pledging to reach out to ``believers and non-believers alike.''

Benedict has been given his fisherman's ring and a woolen shawl, which are both symbols of his papal authority.

Also not forgotten was his predecessor John Paul.

Benedict quoted from from his inaugural homily in 1978, saying ``Do not be afraid!''

The Pope greeted each of the dignitaries on hand after the mass.

He is to meet tomorrow with the Non-Catholic religious leaders who attended the ceremony.
