JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The City of Jonesboro will soon host diversity training for all of their employees.
The training follows the suspension of the Parks and Recreation Director after he made controversial comments on his Twitter.
City representative Rennell Woods said this is an opportunity to raise awareness and promote an open dialog in the city.
"It's a sensitivity and diversity training that makes people aware of their biases and make people more understanding of others," Woods said. "But the ultimate goal is to let people see that we are more alike than we are different, but most of all to expel that ignorance of prejudice in our city."
Woods said they will start classes with the administration and the sanitation department.
The classes will be taped and then sent to departments over the internet.
Woods said the first training class is on August 4.
