JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A Region 8 volunteer organization is looking to train new members.

Carol Hinck, President of St. Bernards Auxiliary, and Janet Hardin, Membership Chair for St. Bernards Auxiliary, appeared on Region 8 News Midday Monday to discuss St. Bernards Auxiliary needing more volunteers.

Members of St. Bernards Auxiliary volunteer at a number of stations in the medical center.

“We have about 7 different stations right now that they can visit,” Hinck said. “They can work at the village, the Senior Life Center.”

The auxiliary is made up of about 130 men and women who do everything from answer questions at the front desk, answer the phone, and work in the gift shop.

“That’s where we make most of the money we donate to St. Bernards,” Hardin said. “Since our inception in 1963, we have donated over $1.5 million to St. Bernards.”

The money donated goes to help the hospital in many ways including buying equipment and funding nursing and healthcare scholarships.

St. Bernards Auxiliary is currently accepting new members.

“We do a training the first Monday of every month,” Hardin said.

Hinck and Hardin both said the organization is like family and a very rewarding opportunity.

For more information on how to attend a training session or get involved call Hardin at 870-219-0964 or click here for online information.
