Thief drives off with school maintenance truck

Truck stolen overnight

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - For the third time in little more than a month, criminals targeted a local school district.

When workers with the Nettleton School District's maintenance shop, 2211 Dewey, arrived at work Wednesday, they discovered someone had stolen a pickup truck.

According to the initial incident report, the suspect apparently rode up on a green Raleigh SC-30 bike and cut the fence on the northwest side of the shop. Officer Chris Perry found the bike on the ground outside of the fence.

The suspect then cut the lock on the shop's gate and stole a white 2005 Chevy pickup truck, with a large N on the side and a license plate of 687-NHD, according to the report.

On June 20, someone shot out the windows of several Nettleton school buses with a BB gun. A month later, on July 19, vandals used rocks to break out the back windows of eight buses.

Anyone with information on any of these cases should call Crimestoppers at 935-STOP (7867).
