JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - 'I didn't see anything.'

It's almost an anthem cops hear when investigating a crime. Witnesses are one thing.  Witnesses willing to talk to the police in front of other people is another.

Crimestoppers is hoping to change that.

Thursday, Crimestoppers of Jonesboro presented the Jonesboro Police Department with 2500 business cards that give the Crimestoppers phone number and the directions on how to text in a tip. Those who call or text in their tips remain anonymous.  JPD officers can hand the cards out at scenes where 'nobody saw anything'.

Jonesboro Police Chief Rick Elliott said the cards may encourage people to call and tell police what they know later on.

"They don't want to be seen talking to police at the scene.  A lot of times after they have left the scene they will contact us. That's what we are trying to encourage, people getting involved in their community and help us solve these crimes," Elliott said.

Remember, you can report any crime to Crimestoppers, not just the ones featured on KAIT.  You are always anonymous, and your tip could equal cash.  935-STOP.
