JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A wake-up call at a Region 8 jail leads to an officer being punched in the face and an inmate facing more charges.

Diaublique Orlando Robinson, 19, was already in the Craighead County Jail for assault on family or household member. He was sentenced to 365 days in jail in June for that charge.

Robinson now faces additional charges including, second-degree battery and injury of a police officer.

Craighead County Detention Center Officer Travis Smith was marking off inmate names for their work details Wednesday when Robinson left his cell and punched Smith in the mouth, according the sheriff's department's incident report.

The same report states the incident was an unprovoked act of violence.

Fellow Detention Officer Matt Byrd placed Robinson on the ground to restrain him.

Smith went to St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro for treatment.

Smith received 10 stitches to close up three different cuts on his face.
