BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) -

Blytheville police are investigating after some employees were robbed at gunpoint Tuesday morning.

According to a press release from Captain Scott Adams with the Blytheville Police Department, officers were dispatched to Aaron's, located at 939 East Main, around 11 a.m. in reference to an aggravated robbery.

Police talked with store employees who said they were heading to the bank to deposit some money when a black man approached them, pulled out a handgun, and demanded money.

The suspect was reportedly wearing gray shorts and a blue shirt.

The employee said he grabbed the money bag and ran south behind the carwash.

As he was grabbing the money, the man dropped the handgun. He stopped and picked it up before continuing to run south.

Officers tried to find the man but were unable to.

Anyone with information about the crime is urged to contact the police department’s Criminal Investigation Division at (870) 763-4411 or the tip hotline at (870) 762-2677.
