OSCEOLA, AR (KAIT) - An Osceola city park is getting upgrades soon, but residents are speaking out against one of them.
The city is improving Rosenwald park by adding fencing to increase safety.
Parks and Recreation Director Michael Ephlin said that residents pull their vehicles into the park, and that's dangerous for children playing.
He said a child could get hit, and it also digs up the grass in the fields.
Some residents in the area were at the park on Sunday signing a petition to save the park from being barricaded.
Ephlin said the city has not made these changes yet, and they plan to hold a public meeting for the community to give their input.
"I mean this is a park for everybody, for the citizens of our city and we take it seriously," Ephlin said. "We just want it to be safe for everybody that uses the park. That's all we're trying to do."
Ephlin said the city also plans to put in two pavilions, a baseball field, and overlay the basketball courts as well.
