Man leads police on moped chase

BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - A man driving a moped led Blytheville police on a chase throughout the town Saturday before crashing.

According to Assistant Chief Ricky Jefferson, the pursuit began around 3:30 p.m. when the driver, Antione Hopkins, was running stop signs and driving recklessly.

Police chased him through several residential areas.

Hopkins lost control and crashed the moped on Clearwater Road, where he laid on the street until an ambulance arrived.

He was taken to the local hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

Jefferson believes Hopkins ran because he has nine active warrants.

Hopkins is now charged with fleeing and reckless driving.
