JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Jonesboro police are searching for an intruder who cut a man on his leg while he and his children were sleeping.

According to the incident report, it happened around 3:30 a.m. Saturday in the 900-block of Scott Street.

The victim flagged down a Craighead County sheriff’s deputy on his way to the hospital after he was cut by the alleged intruder.

Jonesboro police went to St. Bernards Medical Center and spoke with the victim.

The man told police that he and his two children were asleep in the home when he heard someone trying to get in his front door.

The report stated the victim saw a black man in his doorway with a knife.

Police said the man then punched the intruder and he fell to the floor.

The intruder reportedly cut the victim’s leg about 10 inches from the ankle up and left the house.

After police spoke with the victim, one of the children told police he opened his eyes and saw the man also.

The victim signed a consent form for officers to search the home for evidence and gave them the keys.

Police searched the home but were unable to find any physical evidence.

Anyone with information relating to this crime is urged to call Crimestoppers at 935-STOP (7867).
