JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Scary moments for a Jonesboro mom and her daughter after she said a couple of suspects opened fire on their home.
The 36-year-old woman told police when she and her 8-year-old daughter arrived at their home in the 1800-block of Cedar Heights at 11:45 p.m. Sunday she noticed the two suspects sitting on a power box across the street.
The victim said as she and her daughter entered their home one of the suspects said, "Yeah, this is our block."
While her child was in her bedroom getting ready for bed, the woman stated she heard what she knew to be a bullet striking the residence.
The woman grabbed her daughter and ran to a rear bedroom. That is when she said someone shot the rear window.
Officer Jacob Daffron reported the first shot struck the window frame and screen, but did not enter the interior of the home; however, the second bullet "passed through both window panes." He located the bullet near the edge of a closet, the initial incident report stated.
The victim described the two suspects as juvenile black males. She said one was tall and slender, with dreadlocks, wearing a white shirt and khaki shorts. The other suspect she said was shorter and dressed in all black.
She stated that a group of kids had been causing problems in the neighborhood.
