KENNETT, MO (KAIT) -

The Kennett City Council approved a one-cent sales tax to appear on the ballot for residents to vote on in November.

Kennett Mayor Bob Hancock said the tax will be used for public safety.

He said the city needs a new fire department and needs to fix infrastructure issues.

Hancock said this has been discussed for several years and finally made it on the ballot.
