JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Trumann police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened Tuesday afternoon.

The woman who shot her boyfriend, Cecily Swift, was released from custody Tuesday night.

According to Trumann Police Chief Chad Henson, the evidence at the scene and witness statements match Swift's statement that the shooting was in self-defense.

Marlon Barnes, 35, was reportedly shot in the chest by Swift in the bedroom of a house on Hobart Street around 3:30 p.m.

He was taken to a hospital and later died.

Henson said the investigation is ongoing.
